The summer of 2026 brought together old and new in the Barbo 7s camp. After bringing on Dave Williams to coach and lead the men, the professional coaching impact was immediately felt by the team. After securing tournament wins in Mingo 7’s, Denver 7’s & Fountain City 7’s … the boys are hungry for the grand daddy of them all. With veteran physio Purvi Desai will be strapping knees, and team manager Howard Kent wielding more spreadsheets than your average accountant, the management team is excited to support this exciting group of players who are blessed and honored to wear the Green & White.

A special thanks to ALL the players who grinded out a summer chock full of 7s, where the Barbos consistently fielded two competitive sides all summer. While only 13 names can make the final roster, we all know the success of the team comes from the full effort of everyone.

In no particular order:

Alex Wormer(C)- In his 10th consecutive summer with the Barbo 7s, there is no leader like the legendary Worm. Aerospace engineer by day and breakdown specialist by night, Alex has a nose for the ball. He’s not flashy, he’s simply engineered to win. A known talent in the men’s club game, we are lucky to have him bleeding green this past decade. Keep your eyes peeled for Alex catching defenses off guard with his infamous quick tap restart. It’s almost as if he knows the calls before they come. A 7s guru, he’ll look to etch his name into Barbo lore for generations to come.

Jack Miller - No player has battled through more trials and tribulations on the pitch than Jack Miller. After serious injury in summer of 2022, Jack made it all the way back to help the Barbo XVs hoist the national championship trophy in 2023. He continued his impeccable form only to receive a gut punch in 2024 in the form of a full shoulder reconstruction. But this bionic man has come full circle back to the pitch and is ready for battle. This old school stoic hero knows just a few minutes of pre-game meditation goes a long way. He has mastered his mind and body, but can he conquer his dreams on the highest stage? Keep your eyes peeled for a breakdown grifter poaching the tiniest flash of available ball. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick. Jack don’t need no candlestick … he sees and feels movement in the dark.

Campbell Johnstone - Fondly nicknamed “Soup”, this veteran enters his 6th summer with the Barbo 7s. The dictionary defines “Soup” as a mostly liquid food that can be served either hot or cold. His his on field discipline is stronger than a cajun gumbo, and his love for the game is akin to a shepherd’s love for his flock. His ability to keep his hips square to the gain line make it impossible for defenders to know if he’s running or passing. He keeps defenses guessing like a chef keeps his patrons guessing on the secret ingredient. It’s no secret what’s in the soup … straight running and decisive passive. Watch for Soup to make an impact in a star studded forward pack.

Slinging Pizza Pies and Scoring Tries … that’s what Arnie does!

Arnaud Agasse - This AA battery rarely needs a replacement. The CSU ram knows when to ramp up the pace and when to slow it down and ride the wave. You’ll find him at halfback this weekend, feeding clean ball into attacking scrums and dishing up dimes to his teammates. His superpowers include speed, agility and a five-o-clock shadow that you could light a match on. The club world is about to see what happens when a short(ish) Frenchman gets mad… but this Napoleonic rise won’t end in exile on the island of Elba. Arnaud will be campaigning for victory until the wheels fall off.

Taku Musingwini - Summer of Taku rolls on with a high stakes club showdown. After hoisting a National Championship with Wheeling University, he hopes to lead his new team to similar victory this week. A talent evaluator once said, “Taku doesn’t run, he floats”. When the high stakes Sunday matches come calling, he’ll be ready to answer. Deadly foot, snappy passer, play maker. This Zimbabwe capped rising star is ready to make his mark.

Luke Neely - The GCU product in his 4th consecutive summer with the Barbos has length, composure and vision. Luke’s ability to stay cool under pressure is why he’s called upon year after year to grab the reins and lead the men. While his deadly foot often put him in the flyhalf spot, this summer he’s partnered with Musingwini and found a home at Center. He looks to rise from the collegiate ashes and prove he belongs on the highest stage. Keep your eyes peeled for this gazelle opening up his stride in space.

Ian was rocking the Broccoli Top before it was cool.

Ian Wormer - Little worm is no longer little. This punishing finisher looks to close out his 5th consecutive summer with the Barbos out in space. On the outside, he has a knack for picking weak shoulders and dicing defenders. Look for him this weekend either in the scrums with big bro, or on the edge waiting for another meal (meat pie).

Tadiwanashe Kainga - The word “Kainga” in Shona translates to “tribe” or “home”. TK has a knack for makes his teammates feel at home. The Prince Edward School product has built his rugby brand through the American collegiate system, and now looks to make his mark on the Men’s Club game. Keep your eyes peeled for a consistent defender and breakdown workhorse.

Steve Karas - Veteran. Plain and simple. Steve knows what its like to lace up for a high stakes final. His defense as been suffocating this summer, grinding his way into the top side one viscous tackle at a time. High Performance doesn’t come with out sacrifice. This 35 year old trailblazer is showing the world he knows more than one code of rugby. Go on big boy, throw that infamous fend and let the young bucks know you still collect the tax around here!

David Hightower - No one hits their sprinting gait quicker than Dave. His signature cut/fend combo has given defenses fits for years. In his 4th consecutive summer with the Barbos, Hightower is a beacon. If he sees a defender on the edge, all alone…. he may just shine a light and go. After representing the Dominican Republic in 7s this summer he sets his eyes on the pinnacle of Men's Club 7s.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane … no, it’s Marco

Marco LaPierre - Aerial specialist. Tall, strong, and tackle savvy. With so much of today’s 7s game about possession and retention, you’ll see a lot Marco going up for kickoffs. Whether it’s a tap back, an outright catch, or living in your opponents head … it’s good to have a threat in the air.

Marcel LeFevre - A product of La Salette Academy in Illinois, this CSU ram has made great strides in his first summer with the Barbo 7s. At just 5’8”, 160 lbs (soaking wet), this lap dog seeks to play in the big dogs park. Will we see him put on the burners and stretch defenses laterally? If he’s given the chance to sink his teeth into the competition, he might not let go.

Julian DeRaffele - The game is late, and you need a play. Who do you look to when both teams are tired and the clock winds down? A guy who can fit through a key hole. Julian as a stepping / creating threat will be much needed as the Nations best defenses will look to keep the Barbo attack cool. His energy is the spark, his desire is the fuel. Burn it down Jules.
