FRONTIER 7S CHAMPS LOOK FORWARD TO AUGUST
The Denver Barbarians won the Fountain City 7’s 19-12 against the Kansas City Blues. After a day in the hot sun and stifling humidity, the men in Green & White hoisted hardware for the second time this summer. They will take forward learnings and adjustments as the team preps for an exciting August to round out the summer.
Your 2025 Fountain City 7s’s Champs
Andrew Wulf was a massive contributor in the final, scoring two tries utilizing his sturdy frame to bump off defenders. Campbell Johnstone was the team’s iron man as he clocked 14 minute shifts throughout the hot day. After dominating Denver 7’s with cohesive defense, the victories in Kansas were a result of a potent attack and ruck retention.
The Barbos B finished 4th on the day. (Left to Right, Top Row: Brad Kissinger, Logan Lair, Anthony Rice, Brett DeBoy, Rashon Jennings, Cole Williams. Bottom Row: Steve LaPorta, Zach O’Reilly, Gavin Oleson, Arnaud Aggasse, Barrett Weiss, Zach Thies
The upside of this summer has been the team’s depth. The Barbos have fielded two teams throughout the summer, and iron has sharpened iron as a result. While the Barbo Bs opened up the day with two close losses to Kansas City Blues and Kansas City Reds respective A sides, they bounced back with a win in the “play-in QF” match topping KC Blues B 31-19.
Logan Lair and Zach O’Reilly put their stamp on the match with potent attack and intensity around the ruck. Arnaud Agasse continued to direct traffic and be a playmaker. The team depth will be an asset moving forward. There is a 7’s hit out planned at Cook Park on June 26th. It will be a great test for the younger players to show whose form is peaking at the right time.
This summer’s 7’s teams are as deep as an olympic diving pool.
