BARBOS WIN 4TH STRAIGHT DENVER 7’S, TURNING FOCUS TO KANSAS
The Denver Barbos A side defeated the Kansas City Reds 21-5 in the Final to wrap a Denver 7’s to remember. The team let in a single try throughout the tournament, and won relying on defensive cohesion. Marco LaPierre was a standout all day as he dominated the kick-restarts and won back valuable possession for the men in Green & White.
The Kansas City Reds had a strong showing, defeating a Barbo B side that was buzzing off a big quarterfinal win. Players like Arnaud Agasse (who stretched defensives with shifty pace) and Rashon Jennings (who defended and tackled consistently throughout the day) led the team into the semi-final. But the Kansas City Reds attack was too much for the younger Barbo B side. The lads rebounding with a massive win against Vail to take 3rd place.
The two clubs will surely meet again this weekend in Lawrence KS, for the final leg of the Frontier 7’s qualification. The Barbos can expect to face strong sides all weekend in what is always a challenging road trip. Whether it’s a 2 hour flight there and back, or packing into the vans an cruising east through tornado alley, any tournament away from home presents different types of challenges. The Fountain City 7’s tournament will be held this Saturday at the Westwick Rugby Complex in Lawrence KS.
