HONORING DEVIN MARTLING

It’s with heavy hearts that we honor Barbo great Devin Martling who has passed away at age 39. Devin was the lifeblood of the Green & White Barbo family. His smile, laughter and spirit was contagious. A loving brother, son and friend, he will be remembered for his loyalty and compassion. His is survived by his father Lenny, mother Cindy, brother Conor & sister Mikaela. Devin moved to Denver in 2016 to continue the great Martling legacy with the Green & White that his father Lenny instilled in him.

On the pitch, he featured in the backline as a savvy flyhalf and full back who had a knack for putting his teammates through gaps. His trademark “pop-pass” off his hip was a symbol of his ability to elevate his teammates and help them achieve greatness. He competed with the Pacific Rugby Premiership team in 2016 and continued to be a leader in the back line for the next four years. In 2018, he played through the pain of a broken finger to help the team win the club national championship. His grit, determination and toughness was unmatched. After his playing years, he served on the Barbos executive board continuing the legacy of the team-first attitude that he brought to the table.

Off the field, he loved to laugh. No one smiled bigger and brighter than Devin. He always had a knack for being there for anyone who needed to talk, often opening himself up to make others feel heard and feel welcome. His passion for his family and friends was unmatched.

To honor his legacy, the Denver Barbarians will be hosting the Devin Martling Classic Golf Tournament at Raccoon Creek on August 30th, 2025.
