MEET GUS SOKOL

Gus Sokol is a proud product of Rugby Rent Scholarships. After the curly haired big man ghosted me for two weeks during our recruiting talks (he says it was his way of negotiating with me), he finally decided to return my calls and come to Denver. The Iowa Central graduate has found a new home in the Mile High City. With his curly locks tucked under his yellow scrum cap, you can’t miss his long goofy arms swinging around as he carries the ball to the gain line.

It’s often said this kid isn’t actually a club rugby player, but he’s in the debating club. Because every time he runs down the sideline, the player defending standing opposite him is debating in his head if he’d like to try to tackle him or, slow down, reach out a feeble arm, and let Gus run by in a desperate act of self-preservation.

He’ll be taking over the Rugby Rent Scholarship Instagram account this weekend. Don’t miss this Zoomer and his social media savvy … (he takes selfies every other hour just to make sure he looks good … kids these days).
