BARBOS OPEN SPRING SEASON AGAINST STOUT KCRFC

Brett DeBoy knows how to move into space …

Ladies and Gentleman, Barbos and Barbettes alike, welcome back to rugby season. Your Denver Barbarians, the group we fondly referring to as “The Men in Green & White”, return to the pitch to take on a historic club who is on the rise. Kansas City RFC have a clean 7 straight league wins during their fall season, and will host this Saturday in Kansas. They are led by Head Coach (and Legendary American Rugby Blogger) Pat Clifton, and will look to make a statement against the defending National Champions. As both teams aim to find their form heading into the playoffs, the game will provide an opportunity for players to work new combinations and get a taste for the recipe of success.

KCRFC have had a strong fall season

Let’s dive into the 23 selected young men who will don the Green & White in a road battle:

  1. Ethan Harrison - The Washington State Cougar isn’t afraid to hunt for contact on the prairie. A Prop who can tackle like a Flanker.

  2. Kyle Hiyard - If MMA was legal on the rugby pitch, he’d surely whip out the choke hold. Undersized forwards are forced to scrap in games like these.

  3. Bryan Todman - This Prop plays more like a frisky 6. Not afraid of a highlight reel run either.

  4. Kierian Langskov - High motor guy, but can he make more tackles than vowels in his name?

  5. Sean Gorman - A traditional Flanker that can play at lock too. One could say your modern day Jack-Knife.

  6. Dakota Southworth - The young and talented ICCC alumni knows how to bring the heat.

  7. Donny Ronan - If Groundskeeper Willie and Sonic the Hedgehog had a baby, it would be Donovan Ronan.

  8. Alex Wormer (C) - The skipper embodies what it means to wear the Green & White.

  9. Brett DeBoy - A Winger turned Scrumhalf, DeBoy shows an ability to move into new spaces.

  10. Hank Kafonec - Last year’s Scrumhalf, turned Flyhalf. This guy can get you into (and out of) out of a deep hole.

  11. Hunter Wade - A shade of red hair never hurts in the month of March. Can this dancing winger find a pot of gold?

  12. Alex Schultz - I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again … no one runs a better cannon-ball straight line hit up than Schultzy.

  13. Todd Oswald - A man so wise and discipline, he tended to dreadlocks for 3 plus years. The “Tadd Hatter” always has a bag of tricks.

  14. Jack O’Connor - Heading up the Barbos Community Service Dept., Jack leads by example. Community First!

  15. Sean Kilfoyle - No stranger to the Rocky Mountain Rugby Union, Sean looks to make an impact in colors.

The bench is filled with a veteran/rookie mix, all of which will likely see the field with a “rolling subs” format.
